Initial interview

If you’ve got the qualifications we’re looking for we’ll invite you to an intial interview. We’ll gather some basic information about your experience, expectations, salary, availability, and required skills. This may be a digital interview or a phone interview. If you don’t see an email from us soon check your spam folder.

Second interview

Select candidates will be invited to the next round; a live phone or virtual interview with Hiring Managers. We’ll want to learn more about your qualificatons, skills, ability and personality.

Virtual team interview

For some positions a final virtual team interview will be required. This is where you future team of coworkers will get to know you and get a feel for how you might fit in with the team.

Tips for rocking your virtual interview

Treat it like any other interview

To best prepare, spend some time looking into the job and our company. We like to know how your skills align with the job requirements. We’re also interested in hearing about your learning ability, problem-solving skills, dependability, and ability to be a team player. Be sure to give a thorough description of your work history and day to day responsibilities.

In this type of interview, a convincing “elevator pitch” can help set you apart from other candidates. Spend some time telling us how your experience makes you qualified for the position. If you’re worried that you might be saying too much or too little, remember that it’s better to err on the side of sharing more information than not enough.

Lastly, put yourself in our shoes! Ask yourself if the person watching your interview could get the full picture of who you are and what you can do for the company.

Create the perfect interview space

Your virtual interview environment should be comfortable, quiet, and away from possible distractions. Ensure you’ve got a strong internet connection ahead of time. It’s also a good idea to check that your lighting is in front of you, not behind you. Of course, if it’s too bright outside, close the blinds before starting your interview.

Practice, practice, practice

In most on-demand interviews, you typically give your answer in just a few minutes. So, it’s helpful to think ahead about how you will illustrate your skills and experience. You can even practice them out loud. Our process also allows you to do a practice question. If you still aren’t comfortable answering questions on camera, consider recording yourself on a smartphone, tablet, or computer. Virtual interviews aren’t tricky, but they’re certainly different from the interviews you’ve done in the past. So, it’s good to feel prepared.

Be yourself

Don’t let the fact that this is a virtual interview hold you back! This is your chance to shine, and we want to see your personality in your responses. So be authentic, don’t worry about making eye contact with the camera, and speak in a way that makes you feel comfortable.

Can you still take a HireVue if you have a disability?

Absolutely, but if you feel that your disability precludes you from engaging in an on-demand video interview, it’s best to contact us to request a different accommodation.

FAQs

What can I expect?

In a video-based assessment, you’ll be presented with a question – either in written or video form – and will be given several minutes to respond to each question. You'll need a webcam on a phone, tablet, or computer. You'll have the opportunity to practice and will have the option to redo each question if you'd like. You will respond via text box or record your response via video. Expect to spend about 30 minutes on your interview.
Will this HireVue interview mean that I won’t be able to interview with a person before a hiring decision is made?

It is not your only shot! The digital interview is just like a traditional initial phone interview. We'll gather some necessary information about your experience, expectations, and required skills. From there, select candidates will be invited to a second interview with hiring managers. After that second interview, we'll often make a decision, but for some positions, additional interviews may be required. These days, all interviews are conducted either virtually or by phone.
Is it true that an algorithm, or a robot, is deciding whether or not I get the job?

No. Every interview is carefully reviewed by one of our human recruiters, not a robot. If we determine you have the qualifications and skills necessary for the position, we will personally invite you to a live interview with our hiring managers.
Why do we use the HireVue platform?

How can I come up with the best video responses?

We know it can seem weird and new! But don't worry, we're very nice people. We're not judging your ability to look at the camera, and we're not worried if it feels a bit awkward. We care about what you have to say and what your career has looked like up to this point. If it seems strange, practice by recording your "elevator speech" on your phone camera first or using the practice question as an opportunity to calm your nerves. Don't forget; you have the option to redo each of your answers should you want a second shot. That's something you don't get in a phone interview.
What happens after this interview?

If you fit the bill, one of our recruiters will personally reach out to invite you to a second interview with hiring managers. This is where you'll get the chance to further elaborate, answer some questions about how you've handled certain situations in the past, and ask us any questions you may have. For some positions, there may be a third round of interviews with the team members you'll soon be working with. We want to understand how well you'll work with our teams and give you the opportunity to meet your future co-workers.
What personal data are you collecting, and how are you using it?

The only personal information we will ask for through the HireVue platform is your name and email address so that we can match your interview to your application. We do not collect facial recognition data. Your video and question responses will be stored on HireVue's secure platform for a period of time so that we may revisit your interview if needed.
